About Our Wines

Winemaking is a means of preserving grapes.

As in “putting up” other farm products (making jam, for instance), our skill is measured by the degree to which the process remains invisible in the final work— that is, our goal is to usher even the fruit’s subtlest qualities from vine to glass in such a way that our labor leaves the least mark.

(Of course, there is transformation too—fermentation is chaos close to magic—but this is not our artwork.)

We are devoted to the expression of the site (above all) and the vintage and the specific nature of the each grape variety.

These are intended to be wines for the table; as such, we avoid elevated alcohol levels and overt “oakiness.” Harvest dates are selected so that the fruit itself may provide both balance and structure—particularly with regard to acidity.

Please let us know how we’re doing.
